Kia Sportage Reaches 5 Million Units Sold

Since its launch in 1993, the Kia Sportage has offered great performance, capability, and style to a wide variety of drivers. When the Sportage concept vehicle was unveiled in 1991 at the Tokyo Motor Show, it marked the beginning of the idea of the “Urban SUV,” featuring SUV equipment and capabilities while still being easily maneuverable and agile on city streets. Just as the Sportage turns 25 years old, it also reaches a sales milestone of 5 million units sold since its launch.

The Sportage is currently in its fourth generation, which launched in 2016. In its fourth generation, the Sportage has continued to grow in popularity, with 38,000 units sold each month in 2017. The fourth-gen Sportage hit its million sales mark this past January and continues to be a huge competitor within its segment.

Although lauded from various corners since its launch, the Sportage’s prestigious history was furthered in 2017 when it earned the highest possible safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which is one of the most important safety awards a vehicle can earn in the states.

Here at Bill Walsh Kia, the 2018 Kia Sportage is available in three trim levels, and you can rest assured that it’s just as impressive as its predecessors, providing exceptional power, handling, and capability.
