There’s no doubt about it: we rely on our smart devices in our homes and on the go more than ever before. And now, Kia drivers will have even more connectivity options available behind the wheel as the automaker has announced that Google Assistant is coming to Kia vehicles for the 2018 model year.
The announcement came at this year’s CES in Las Vegas, where Kia unveiled its new UVO infotainment system which supports both Google Assistant and Google Home-enabled devices. According to Kia, the new infotainment system is capable of remotely starting and stopping the car’s ignition as well as locking and unlocking doors, and remotely activating the horn and lights. The new UVO system will also allow drivers to access Google Home devices while on the road.
For now, the new technology will only be available in the new Niro PHEV, Optima PHEV, Soul EV, and K900 models, though we can expect the technology to be adopted by more models as they are rolled out in the coming years.
Kia is certainly no stranger to technological innovation, and the announcement of Google Assistant integration makes the newest Kia models more appealing than ever before. Come in to Bill Walsh Kia to learn more and go for a test drive!
