The safety features offered with the 2017 Kia Optima are better than ever; for that reason, this model recently earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The IIHS is an independent organization that ranks cars in the industry based on their performance in various crash-test scenarios. The Top Safety Pick+ designation is the highest a vehicle can earn, which means the new Optima is ideal for those looking for the best in safety.
According to Kia, the latest Optima comes with several new driver-assist options, including Advanced Smart Cruise Control (ASCC), Blind Spot Detection (BSD) with Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and more. Naturally, this model also comes with a suite of advanced airbags and a special crumple zone to reduce stress in an accident.
“The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety sets some of the highest standards when it comes to evaluating vehicle safety, and the Top Safety Pick Plus designation is a significant achievement that substantiates Kia’s ongoing effort to improve the quality and integrity of our world-class model line,” said Orth Hedrick, VP of product planning at Kia.
To earn a Top Safety Pick+ designation from the IIHS, vehicles must have “good” ratings in five specific areas, as well as “advanced” or “superior” ratings in front crash prevention, among other things. To test drive the new Kia Optima, visit Bill Walsh Kia today!
