The Kia design philosophy revolves around some simple factors to set it apart from the competition. You should always be able to instantly recognize a Kia model, with its clean, contemporary lines and bold styling. Above all else, the distinct tiger-nose grille is truly one of a kind, a feature that show the playful yet aggressive nature of Kia models.
Kia has been setting itself apart for years, but it got a boost when former Audi design officer Peter Schreyer joined the team, according to Kia. Now heading the staff of designers, Schreyer’s aim is to make Kia models more futuristic and modern, while at the same time increasing performance and air flow. Schreyer’s mind is truly unique.
“In automotive design, the front face is extremely important to the brand,” explained Tom Kearns, Kia’s chief designer. “It really gives a personality to the vehicle.” That’s why the distinct tiger-nose grille and slim headlamps were developed, giving Kia models a look that is hard to forget. “We also wanted the inside to feel just as sporty as the exterior,” Kearns says. “So inside you’ll find a cabin full of details, orientated to the driver, that complement the model’s sporty spirit.”
