What makes an Ultimate Minivan, you ask? Cars.com decided to go with mostly a subjective approach to making that determination. Rather than merely compare the specs of each minivan point-by-point, they also climbed into the candidates and experienced them firsthand.
Several editors from Cars.com, a producer from the PBS show Motorweek, and a regular American family all gave the candidates a good go-round. Contestants included: 2015 Chrysler Town & Country, 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan, 2015 Honda Odyssey, 2015 Kia Sedona, and the 2015 Toyota Sienna.
After the smoke cleared, the 2015 Kia Sedona emerged as the 2015 Ultimate Minivan. The judges loved how the Sedona came with a 5 Year/60,000 miles overall warranty and 10 Year/100,000 Miles powertrain warranty. But it was really the performance and interior amenities that helped the Sedona win the Cars.com Ultimate Minivan contest.
The judges scored the Sedona dramatically higher than the others in ‘Acceleration and Braking.’ Steering was noted for being taut and without “slop.” Inside the 2015 Kia Sedona, judges appreciated how quiet it was. They also didn’t fail to notice that the Sedona was the only minivan in the group to feature standard heated and cooled seats.
One judge also noted the Sedona was the “best-looking van” in the competition.
